After watching hundreds of YouTube videos with ads, I started to ask myself… “How much does YouTube pay per view?”. This is a far question for anyone who is looking to get started with YouTube or is just beginning.
Ok, lets get stuck in!
How Much Does YouTube Pay Per View?
Instead of me carrying on, I’ll come out straight away and tell you on average how much YouTubers earn per view. Further down below, you will find how I came up with these numbers plus resources.
Average earnings per view: 0.0015 Cents – 0.010 Cents per view
At first you might be thinking this figure is quite low and also the large fluctuation in earnings per view. Let me explain….
So when you add up all these fractions of a cent, it can end up turning into big bucks!
If you want to learn more, you can view my post on how much YouTubers get per 1 million views. But in a nutshell, they can expect to earn anything from $600 to $7,000.
What determines how much YouTubers get paid per single view?
One saying that many YouTubers say to one another is “Interaction, Interaction and Interaction”. Out of all things that determine how much any given video can earn, it comes down to the interaction of the audience.
Another way to look at it is like billboards in different locations. Time Square in New York example is one of the most high traffic areas in the world with very engaged tourists. Hence the prices range from 1 million to 4 million dollars per year, per billboard.
On the other hand, a billboard on a country road where people are whizzing past in their cars, will only earn a mere fraction of this price. Again, it comes back to interaction and engagement.
Other determining factors that dictate price per view
- Type of viewers (age, gender, geographic location) USA visits tend to pay more
- Type of content (viral, DIY, Vlogs, news, skits)
- How consistently content is uploaded
- Audience watch time
- Engagement of subscribers on ads
- Subscriber count and ratio of subs to viewers
- Number of views on mobile vs PC
If you feel discouraged at all by the low earnings per view. I hope this doesn’t deter you at all, YouTube is an incredible fulfilling creative outlet which will bring money in time if you are patient and make valuable content.
Hopefully this mini guide has helped you better understand how much YouTube pays per view. If you think my calculations are off. Please let me know as I plan on updating this article as time goes on. Thanks for reading!
