The word Gaming is as diverse as a word can possibly get.
From vintage consoles to first person shooters, and Smartphone time-passes to VR, gaming includes all these genres and more. YouTube, being the powerhouse it is, is an extremely popular platform for gamers to share their skills and passions. A Youtube Gaming Channel therefore is the right way to share your glorious moves and nifty tricks, while earning cash on the side!
So how can you become a successful Youtube Gamer? Lets jump in!
Step 1. Build a Professional Appearance
Building from the bottom-up is always a fruitful strategy. Properly presenting your channel is one of the fundamental yet overlooked aspects of setting up a gaming channel. A gaming channel should have an aesthetically & appropriately designed:
- Banner
- Channel trailer
- Thumbnail
There should be a consistent visage and a uniform feel, while the logo should match your channel’s interest. In order to help beginners get by through this first step, Youtube has a Creator Academy Program of their own. You can also check out Canva which allows you to create awesome logos, banners and icons for free and its super simple.
Step 2. Brand Awareness
There are two types of Gaming Videos; one that start right with the game, and the other which starts with an introductory logo. A professional looking video intro right before your main clip can create huge brand-awareness and peak viewers’ interest in your channel.
The key over here is to keep the intro short, i.e. 2 – 5 seconds so that people don’t view it like an advertisement. A logo and a key-phrase would be enough. You can do so by using Adobe After Effects, or simply hiring a freelancer at an affordable price.
Step 3. Game Capture Card
Once people start viewing your Gaming experiences, they would want to be mesmerized & blown-away by the video & audio quality. Failure to do so would only divert their attention to other videos in the sidebar. Having a Game Capture Card can solve this problem, whether you have a PlayStation, X-box or a PC.
HD recording will put you in competition with the top gaming channels while reducing any strain on your GPU. Here’s a list you might be interested in.
Step 4. Communicate
Who wouldn’t like to watch a Call of Duty Multiplayer clip with Ozzy Man offering his regards in the background? No one. If you have a funny accent or a way with the mic, then its highly recommended that you communicate with the audience.
Narrating your moves or making funny references will form a connection with the viewer, which will call him back to your channel when the next video comes.

Step 5. Post Production
Cut out all the slow parts of your videos; period. People don’t like to have their time wasted and are usually watching a gaming video for the thrill of it. If you want your video to stand out, you’ll need to learn Adobe After Effects and make the necessary changes where required. Adding subtitles, remarks, tips & tricks would all help your channel grow. Finally, as a last piece of advice to become a YouTube gamer, follow a consistent routine with your videos. If you want your viewers to multiply, you’ll need to inform them beforehand, when the next video’s due. Simply do this at the end of your video, but be sure to follow the schedule as there are thousands of gaming channels waiting to take your spot!
