When it comes to high production on YouTube….. lets just say it’s not that common. However if you watch videos from YouTuber/Vlogger Peter McKinnon, he is bringing his A game to the table. But what camera does Peter McKinnon use to capture his cinematic style Vlogs?
What Camera Does Peter Mckinnon Use?
In short Peter McKinnon is using a Canon EOS-1DX II which is considered the God Father of cameras among photographers and videographers. As you might have guessed “The God Father Of Cameras” doesn’t come cheap. To put it in perspective, you could purchase a decent second hand car for the price of this camera.
There is an endless list that makes this camera a beast, but in short it comes down to its ability to record video at 4K at up to 24fps. Paired with this frame rate is the Dual DIGIC 6+ Image Processors that allows the shooter to record in almost any lighting situation.
One thing to keep in mind is that Peter has been recording video for 7 years prior to his shift over to YouTube. A camera definitely can help in making your videos more polished. But at the end of the day it comes down to the fundamentals of videography and story telling that make a great video.
