Overweight, abused and bullied. This is the story of Shane Dawson, a 28-year-old Vlogger from Long Beach, CA. Dawson has fought his way through almost every ordeal a person can face.
Growing up in a poor, abusing family, Dawson found refuge in videography. His interest solidified with the beginning of his first Youtube channel, “ShaneDawsonTV”, and since its success, he has completely transformed himself.
Shane mostly does Comedy work, posting short web films and music parodies on his channel. He even got himself fired, along with 8 other people when he posted a video of himself pole dancing at his workplace! But it was those very guts that eventually made him into a success and led to two other Youtube channels.
Named the 25th most famous web celebrity by Forbes, ShaneDawsonTV has garnered over 1 billion views and 8 million subscribers.
Shane’s interest with videography sparked in high school when he started filming for class projects. But his skillset and inventory has expanded since then.
So What Kind Of Camera Does YouTuber Shane Dawson Use?
The answer is Canon EOS 5D Mark III, the successor of the very first DSLR that brought full-frame digital photography to everyone.
The 5D Mark III is a step-up from the Mark II, and has been instantly embraced by several indie filmmakers as the arsenal of choice. At 1080p, the 5D allows high-speed footage to be captured at 60fps. Post-processing efficiency has also increased as Canon has introduced new codecs with advanced compression algorithms.
This makes up for easier editing in the form of extreme grading & color correction adjustments.
Convenience is a videographer’s biggest tool. The 5D Mark III is built on this very principle providing maximum possible functionality while recording. Audio levels, shutter speed, aperture and other parameters can be monitored with ease without worrying about generating any noise.
The camera also yielded impressive results during nighttime, even at ISO levels of 6400. Still, if this isn’t enough for you, the 5D will go all the way to 12800. Noise will become a factor at such high levels, but the 5D is still able to produce decent shots, never failing to impress. While this camera comes with a big price tag, it can create big quality videos.
